Today's Treasure Hunt:  Antiquing in SW Michigan

Interior design-quality pieces, serious collector pieces, Depression glass and art ceramics, golden oak and fine mahogany, mid-century modern furniture, vintage lace, handwork and needlepoint, pretty handbags, great old tools and farm equipment, toys, books and more – much more – are all in store for you. More shops are opening all the time, so come over and do some browsing. St. Joseph offers a spectacular place to go antiquing at Lake Bluff Park.  Each May through October you can visit “Antiques on the Bluff" on the first Sunday of the month.  It is held along a tree-lined street overlooking Lake Michigan.  There is free parking and no admission.

Shawnee Road Antiques, just minutes from Lake Chapin Shores, is Southwest Michigan's oldest and largest private antiques shop, and has three separate buildings with thousands of items.  In one of the buildings you'll find a complete self-contained Victorian storefront shop, Apparel from the Past, where you'll find authentic vintage clothing from the mid 1800's through the mid 1900's, with an emphasis on the 1940's and 1950's. They were a major Midwest supplier for the 1930's movie "Public Enemies", starring Johnny Depp. They are located at 638 Shawnee Rd, Baroda, MI  269-422-1382
